  • What We're Looking For

We’re seeking an experienced Tax Advisor to build and manage a portfolio of firm clients while delivering high-quality tax compliance, planning, and advisory services to a diverse client base. This is a client-facing leadership role ideal for a proactive, self-driven professional who combines deep technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a passion for helping clients succeed.

You’re someone who thrives on solving complex tax challenges, advising business owners, and mentoring team members to deliver exceptional results all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You take ownership, love improving processes, and bring ideas to the table. You’re not just along for the ride; you help steer the ship.

    About the Role

You’ll notice we intentionally call this role a Tax Advisor, not a Tax Manager.

That distinction matters. The heart of this position is client advisory and client outcomes, not internal management for management’s sake. We want you spending your time where it truly adds value: leading planning conversations, identifying opportunities, and helping clients make better decisions, rather than being so internally busy that meaningful client service suffers.

In this role, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of approximately 30–35 client relationships, representing roughly 100 individual and entity tax returns, with room to grow.

We are not a volume firm - depth is our focus. We want you to truly understand your clients, create clarity, and deliver real outcomes. Clients should feel like they have a boutique advisory partner who understands their business and goals and consistently brings proactive ideas that reduce risk and improve the bottom line.

We work with clients all year, not once a year.

Your cadence begins in June with re-engagement and mid-year planning, moves into fall projections, then year-end planning and tune-ups, and flows naturally into tax return preparation and compliance. Throughout the year, you’ll connect compliance to strategy, using real-time client activity to drive actionable planning, clear recommendations, and next steps that clients actually implement.

You'll work within a pod structure, where you lead the relationship and quarterback the overall client experience.

For clients enrolled in Client Accounting Services, you’ll partner closely with a CAS Advisor to ensure books, reporting, and tax strategy stay aligned. You’ll also collaborate with and leverage a team of specialists to support delivery, maintain quality, timelines, and communication. While you are the relationship lead, you’re never on an island - this role requires strong collaboration and a team-first mindset, using the full resources of the firm to consistently deliver an exceptional client experience.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Tax Compliance & Planning

    • Prepare and ensure timely delivery of, federal, state, and local income tax returns for Individuals (1040), Partnerships (1065), S Corporations (1120S), C Corporations (1120)

    • Review returns prepared by team members, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance, while strengthening their knowledge through thoughtful review notes and learning opportunities

    • Step back from the technical details to analyze each return from a big-picture perspective

    • Proactively identify opportunities to minimize client tax liabilities and develop tailored strategies

    • Stay current with tax law changes and communicate updates to clients and internal teams

    Client Advisory & Support

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients on tax-related matters, building strong, long-term relationships

    • Maintain consistent engagement with clients, ensuring their evolving needs are understood and addressed through regular communication

    • Research and respond to IRS and state inquiries in a timely and professional manner

    • Collaborate directly with the clients’ designated MCo CAS Advisor or their internal accounting team to ensure alignment and accuracy

    • Consult and advise clients on key areas that are important to them such as entity selection, compensation strategies, and tax strategies that support their goals

    Research, Leadership & Development

    • Partner closely with the Director of Tax to oversee workflow, prioritize deadlines, and enhance firm processes

    • Participate actively in improving systems, workflows, and documentation; share ideas that make the firm better

    • Research complex tax issues and prepare clear, actionable recommendations

    • Provide mentoring, feedback, and training to junior team members

    • Approach challenges with curiosity and ownership, always looking for solutions, not just identifying problems
